The Field Museum connects all of us to the natural world and the human story.
Stop in to hear Jingmai O’Connor, Associate Curator of Fossil Reptiles talk about bird evolution and her new book!
Paleontologist Jingmai O’Connor’s new book for young people, especially kids 8-12, about the evolution of flight in dinosaurs and the transition to birds. When Dinosaurs Conquered The Skies: The Incredible Story Of Bird Evolution is an illustrated exploration of how dinosaurs evolved flight and eventually became the birds we live with today. Jingmai will be on had to talk about how dinosaurs evolved flight, how birds are related to dinosaurs, and what goes into writing a science book for kids.
Scientists, researchers, and collections managers are behind the scenes every day, uncovering new information and taking care of our collection.
During Meet a Scientist, you can find them in the Grainger Science Hub. They’ll discuss their work and share real items from the museum’s collection of nearly 40 million objects. From collections care to field work, and dinosaurs to ecology, there’s a world of science to explore.
Visit the Science Hub on select weekdays for an up-close look at what our researchers do every day.
